Support our church’s effort in “Building for our Future” by donating to help us build a home to house a permanent preacher and his family here in Estes Park, CO.

Christians working and worshipping in the beautiful town of Estes Park, Colorado are in urgent need of a minister’s home.

What are we doing and why?

Sitting at the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, more than 4.5 million people visit our city every year, including many Christians who find a warm welcome and an inspiring place to worship God in spirit and in truth.

We are currently without a full-time minister and have been searching for the right man now for over a year and a half.

We know that our struggle is mainly due to the extremely high cost of housing here in Estes Park, CO, which makes it almost impossible to find a minister who can afford to live here.

Without a full-time minister, the congregation is struggling to continue being the light in this city of 6,000 and the surrounding area of 12,000.

We have prayerfully determined that it is essential for the future of the church to make adequate housing available for a minister.

With that said, Estes Park Church of Christ is fundraising to build a home to house a permanent preacher and his family.

The members of the congregation are stepping out in faith to build a modest three-bedroom, 2-bath modular home (with attached garage). This will be built adjacent to the church building (1.3-acre lot).

A goal of raising $750,000 to meet this need has been set, of which they themselves have pledged more than $260,000! In the meantime, our search for a minister continues.

 FAQs

  • Yes. However, check with your tax professional to confirm.

If you are over the age of 70 ½ and own a traditional IRA, you can use the qualified charitable distribution (QCD) rule to exempt your required minimum distribution (RMD) from taxation. In 2015, Congress made permanent the QCD rule, and it is a great way to prevent your RMD from boosting your annual income – which may, in some cases, put you into a higher income tax bracket. This rule allows you to deduct your required minimum distribution on your tax return if you give the money to a qualified 501(c)(3) charity [church] like (Estes Park Church of Christ.

Some things to consider: The RMD must be given directly to the charity [church]. If the distribution check is not made out to the charity [church], it would be counted as a taxable distribution.

For example, you can receive the check and deliver it to (EPCofC), but you may not deposit the check and make out another one to (EPCofC).

Also, the limit (or cap as of 2024) on how much can be taken as a QCD is $105,000 per taxpayer, per IRA account, per year.
